The Death Star Plans Are in His Computer!


On November 12th my friend Mike Senese (@msenese) the Executive Editor over at Make Magazine broke an amazing article on what is possibly the largest Death Star ever made!

Colby Powell and his kids had the idea to put a Death Star in their back yard. The design evolved around the outer shell made of two grey-green T-10 military surplus parachutes. With a call to the lead engineer of the parachute manufacturer, Colby was given the seam lengths and was then able to calculate the inflated size. From that size a 23 foot geodesic sphere was constructed using Sonostar hubs and 1/2″ grey electrical conduit.
